Instructors are termed "Assistant Instructors" untill they have reached the age of 18 and have completed their instructors training course, a power boat handling course and hold a first aid certificate.

The RYCT regularly hold courses for skill develoment, including instructor course, rescue boat courses, power boat licence, marine radio operator, safety and survival at sea, weather talks, adult learn to sail and others.
